A narrated legend: a king with everything but peace finds a forest stone and strikes a land-for-peace pact with the Demigod.

A father explains the land was given to the Demigod; his brother scoffs at the ritual and threatens court.

The performer dons the gaggara as the Varaha hymn rises during the spirit worship ritual.

The Landlord asks the possessed performer for the land; Panjurli warns him and the dancer runs into the forest and disappears.

Shiva drives his buffaloes through the mud race and beats his own record by two seconds.

The prize goes to the Landlord's buffaloes; Shiva calls it rigged and fights the Landlord's men in the slush.

Shiva's mother storms in over the boar hunt, Shiva hides in a tree and Rampa gets caught in the scolding.

On a night hunt Rampa narrates how his grandfather killed a tiger by firing at the ground, then the gang bags a boar.

The new forest officer tries to stop the fireworks; Shiva and Sundara defy him until the Landlord pulls them apart.

Shiva gets Leela a forest guard job and the romance song plays out across village nights and rides.

Murali's team marks village land as encroachment, Leela among them; Shiva leads the fight and Murali fires his gun.

Villagers call Leela a traitor; when she brings Shiva food he lashes out and she breaks down.

Tipped off, Murali's jeep races in as Shiva's gang drops a tree on it; panic and a plan to hide in the forest follow.

Leela offers to quit her job for Shiva; after a clumsy apology the two reconcile in the hideout.

At dawn Murali finds the couple, mocks Leela's loyalties, suspends her and drags Shiva away.

In jail the friends sketch a human-tower escape over a fifteen-foot wall until the guards confiscate the map.

Villagers run to a jeep's dumping site and find the Kola performer Guruva dead.

The village mourns, the ritual attire is removed and a lament plays over the funeral.

Visiting him in jail, Shiva's mother tells him he must never perform the Bhootha Kola; then he learns why.

Devendra retells the legend as a performer's trick, then asks Guruva to speak for him at the Kola; Guruva refuses.

Over scotch, Devendra tells Shiva the DRFO killed Guruva and urges patience while lighting the fuse.

At the smithy, Mahadevanna talks of inner fire; Shiva pieces together the Landlord's jeep and Guruva's death.

Soaked and calm, Shiva eats with Devendra, refuses the scotch and summons him to Kaadubettu at midnight.

With Shiva left for dead, the Guliga spirit rises through him, punishes the Landlord and pronounces judgment.

The Varaha hymn returns over the closing Kola as the village stands in worship.
